Cleveland Golf Clubs Overview
Founder Roger Cleveland has long since left his namesake company, which he sold in 1990. But Cleveland Golf continues to produce well crafted and highly praised clubs and accessories.
The company’s legacy for making some of golf’s best wedges is in good hands. Cleveland continues to innovate in the category, with recent advancements in grooves, weight positioning and shapes.
Not to be overlooked are Cleveland Golf’s drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, utility clubs, irons and putters. A strong roster of professional reps, including 2021 Masters winner Hideki Matsuyama and major champions Shane Lowry, Keegan Bradley and Inbee Park, keep the Cleveland brand front-and-center with the golf public.

Here’s a quick rundown of the company’s most recent offerings:
Launcher XL, 2019 – 2021
Cleveland touts the super-high MOI (moment of inertia) in its Launcher XL and Launcher XL Lite drivers. They also feature a Rebound Frame designed to send more energy into the ball at impact for greater distance. The Launcher XL Lite model is 12 grams lighter than its sibling, helping golfers who need extra swing speed.
Cleveland’s Launcher XL Halo lineup includes a fairway wood, a hybrid and what the company calls a “Hy-Wood” – a combination hybrid-fairway wood. All three are equipped with Gliderails (a pair of slender rails along the sole) to improve performance in the rough.
Launcher HB Turbo, 2019 – 2021
Cleveland’s Launcher HB Turbo iron sets have earned numerous accolades for their game-improvement features. Rather than a traditional shape, each iron boasts a hybrid-style body for increased forgiveness on off-center hits, and a higher launch and carry.
Launcher UHX, 2019 – 2021
The companion to Cleveland’s Launcher HB Turbo irons, the Launcher UHX version is geared toward better golfers with its more traditional appearance and playing qualities. Forgiveness remains key, though. Cleveland Launcher UHX long irons are hollow-bodied for added weight on the perimeter, while the shorter clubs’ cavity-back build enhances control from close range.
RTX ZipCore Wedges, 2020
Cleveland’s flagship wedge lineup got an overhaul in 2020. The company replaced steel with a lower-density material, called ZipCore, in the clubs’ center, then repositioned the sweet spot for optimum trajectory and spin. RTX ZipCore wedges also feature additional UltiZip grooves for ultra-high spin rates. Cleveland offers an alternative model in the 58° setup – the RTX Full-Face – whose grooves stretch across the entire clubface.
CBX 2 Wedges, 2020
These perennial favorites continue to win awards and fans. A hollowed-out body expands forgiveness even farther across the face, while Cleveland’s CBX 2 wedges retain the classic look, feel and sound the company is famous for.
Smart Sole 4 Wedges, 2020
This popular lineup features three unconventional clubs, each with an extra-wide sole to prevent digging and fat shots. Cleveland’s Smart Sole 4 “C” model is used for chip shots close to the green; the Smart Sole 4 “S” wedge is primarily for sand play; and the Smart Sole 4 “G” model is equivalent to a gap wedge.
Frontline Putters, 2020 – 2021
First introduced in 2020, Cleveland Golf’s Frontline putter series expanded in 2021. These models are notable for the repositioned center of gravity, which is closer to the face than standard; Cleveland says this results in straighter putts. Frontline putters feature a proprietary face pattern for consistent ball speeds no matter where the ball is struck, plus an alignment guide to ensure the golfer’s eyes are placed properly at address.
Huntington Beach SOFT Putters, 2018 – 2021
SOFT stands for Speed Optimized Face Technology, a milling pattern engineered to deliver the same roll whether the ball is struck purely or miss-hit. Each Cleveland Huntington Beach SOFT model has its own unique face pattern based on the putter’s shape. The company expanded the lineup with HB SOFT Premier putters, in a satin-gray finish, in 2021.
