The photos started to drop in mid-December, and the face of the new TaylorMade driver for 2022 used by Tiger Woods at the PNC Championship was the same colour as his Sunday shirts.
Announced in early January, the new TaylorMade driver – the Stealth – is the latest innovation from the Carlsbad, Calif.-based company, boosting a ton of great technical features to help golfers hit it further and straighter.
Not only do golfers have the chance to try some new drivers from TaylorMade in Canada, but there are new fairway woods, hybrids, and irons for 2022 as well.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new TaylorMade gear for 2022.
STEALTH DRIVERS
After over two decades of research and development, the new TaylorMade driver for 2022 welcomes golfers to the ‘Carbonwood’ age. TaylorMade engineers knew that every material had its limit, and the company says the future of driver performance begins with the 60X Carbon Twist Face.
The new TaylorMade driver for 2022 features 60 layers of carbon fibre to help provide more speed. The red carbon face delivers a higher COR and more precise face geometry through a larger, but lighter, face.
The face in the new TaylorMade driver is 40 percent lighter than titanium and is 11 percent larger than the face in the SIM2 and SIM2 Max drivers.
Not only is the TaylorMade Stealth’s performance top-tier, but golfers can be confident in knowing the sound has been engineered as a total improvement from older carbon-headed clubs on the market. Thanks to fine-tuned acoustic precision, engineers were able to create a powerful sound and feel profile.

“The 20-year journey to today is a reflection of the engineering and R&D teams at TaylorMade that never gave up on the idea of a carbon face driver,” said Todd Beach, Senior Vice President R&D and Engineering at TaylorMade. “Through two decades of work our team was able to solve various hurdles and create numerous technological innovations in order to bring today’s most advanced and precise driver to market.”
There are three models of the new TaylorMade driver for 2022. The Stealth Plus (lowest spinning of the family), Stealth (15 percent more MOI), and Stealth HD (draw-bias), plus Stealth Women’s.
STEALTH HYBRIDS
With more Tour pros than ever playing the new TaylorMade hybrids, the refinements made to both the Stealth Plus and Stealth Rescue for 2022 will help weekend warriors get more out of their long games, too.
The Stealth Plus has an iron-like profile. It’s easy to control trajectory and shot shape, and thanks to a redesigned V Steel sole, both launch properties and turf interaction has been optimized. Stealth Plus also boasts an adjustable loft sleeve with plus/minus 1.5 degrees of loft.
The Stealth Rescue, meanwhile, has a new carbon crown construction which has allowed engineers to reallocate seven grams of weight to help influence performance. Easy launch, better stability, and optimal forgiveness can all be found in the new TaylorMade hybrids.

STEALTH FAIRWAY WOODS
Carbon is the most important design thread in the new TaylorMade fairway woods for 2022.
The Stealth Plus fairway uses ZATECH titanium (made in small batches) which helps TaylorMade golf engineers to push the limits of face flexibility. The all-new carbon crown creates a 12 percent larger carbon surface area compared to the SIM2, while the Stealth Plus fairway wood has MOI that’s 12 percent higher than the SIM2 Titanium.
The Stealth fairway wood has a larger profile than the Stealth Plus and is the ultimate combination of distance and forgiveness.
“For most golfers, the fairway wood doesn’t get used on every hole. But when those moments arise, it needs to deliver,” said Tomo Bystedy, Senior Director Production Creation, Metalwoods, at TaylorMade. “That’s why we designed the family of Stealth fairway woods with increased MOI for added forgiveness without sacrificing the high launch and low-spin results that produce the marquee distance golfers have come to expect from TaylorMade fairways.”

STEALTH IRONS
Building off the game-improvement successes of the SIM2 Max irons from last season, the new TaylorMade irons for 2022 showcase that there can be distance-enhancements and feel-improvements, all wrapped in a cleaner, streamlined package.
The Cap Back system (first introduced in the SIM2 Max) helps to remove about 10 grams of mass from the high-toe area in the Stealth irons. The Stealth irons were designed to not just push the limit of game-improvement irons but also help modernize what a game-improvement iron can look like.
