Jon Rahm, one of the best golfers in the world, has joined Callaway Golf’s PGA Tour professional staff to kick off 2021.
Callaway has been making top-tier golf equipment for decades, and has been a partner to some of the best golfers of all time – like Arnold Palmer, Phil Mickelson, Annika Sorenstam, and lately Xander Schauffele and Marc Leishman plus major winners Michelle Wie-West, Georgia Hall, Henrik Stenson, Jim Furyk, and Francesco Molinari.
Canadian Adam Hadwin has played Callaway Golf for the duration of his professional golf career – including during his PGA Tour win in 2017 and when he shot a 59 – while Adam Svensson has recently switched to Callaway Golf and just captured the Big Money Classic, a professional event in Florida that took place in early January (with a $100,000 first-place prize).
Now Callaway can count Rahm, who ascended to No. 1 in the world in mid-2020, as part of its team.
Jon Rahm, PGA Tour Player
“I’m so happy to be joining Callaway, and I can’t wait to start the year,” said Rahm, who finished T7 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in his debut as part of the Callaway staff.
Rahm shot a 59 in his first round with his new Callaway setup at his Silverleaf Country Club in Arizona.
“The equipment is already performing well for me,” said Rahm. “Especially the golf ball, which has really impressed me in the testing process.”
Switching to a new golf ball is always one of the more tricky things for a player to overcome, but Rahm, in an interview with GOLF.com, said he saw an opening to improve his short iron game.
“I can add a variety of shots now,” said Rahm. “[The golf ball] was one of the key ingredients. Once I saw I could hit it good off the tee, as I have the last few years, I could try to strengthen a weakness.”
Rahm, who has already won five times on the PGA Tour and six times on the European Tour in his young career, is one of the most dynamic 20-something professionals in the world.
Per Callaway, Rahm worked extensively with the company’s Tour department to dial in the specs for each of his new clubs. His bag includes Callaway Prototype Woods, Callaway Apex prototype irons, and a Callaway Chrome Soft X Golf Ball. Rahm is in the process of making a full transition to 14 Callaway clubs.
Rahm signed a multi-year golf club deal with Callaway – all of which will be available at GlobalGolf.ca - after spending the majority of his career with TaylorMade.
Rahm used Callaway and Odyssey equipment while playing at Arizona State University, where he won 11 tournaments. He has the second-most wins in school history behind Mickelson and received the Ben Hogan Award as the best college player in the United States in 2015 and 2016 – the first golfer to win the award twice.
“We’re proud to welcome Jon Rahm as the newest member of our Tour Staff,” said Callaway President and CEO Chip Brewer. “He’s one of the very best players in the world, and he’s a proven winner on golf’s biggest global stages.
“We’ve admired Jon for many years, going back to his college days when he first used our equipment. We’re excited to see him playing Callaway and Odyssey again, as he looks to take his game to yet another level.”
You may not hit it like Rahm, but you too can have Callaway help you try to take your game to another level, as there is a wide assortment of new and Certified PreOwned Callaway Golf clubs available at GlobalGolf.ca
