Sometimes you have to look backward to go forward. In the case of FootJoy and its new Premiere series for 2021 it’s clear – the throwback look combined with a modern feel makes for a heck of a golf shoe.
FootJoy, long ranked as the No.1 shoe in the game, released three versions of its Premiere Series for 2021 in the springtime. It’s HyperFlex line is a complimentary shoe that is more athletic in its design as compared to the Premiere’s classic vibe.
But no matter what kind of style you have, you can be sure FootJoy golf shoes will perform as good as they look.
“We saw a terrific opportunity to completely reinvent the classically inspired golf shoe from the ground up,” said FootJoy vice president, footwear, Chris Tobias said at the time of the FootJoy Premiere shoe’s launch. “And to accomplish that, we leveraged every ounce of innovation, as well as direct input from the world’s best players, to deliver next-level performance with a distinctly modern take on classic design.”
FootJoy has been a trusted brand by the best golfers in the world – including Canadians Mackenzie Hughes and Corey Conners – and weekend warriors for over 150 years, and for 2021 the FootJoy Premiere and FootJoy Hyperflex shoes are two new options for Canadian golfers.
FOOTJOY PREMIERE GOLF SHOES
There are three versions of the FootJoy Premiere: The Tarlow, The Packard, and the Flint.
Tarlow: Inspired by Bill and Dick Tarlow, who bought FootJoy in 1957, the Tarlow collection is the first of a modern shoe of a timeless design. It boasts a toe cap design and complimented by a croc print in the cap toe, eyestay, and heel.

Packard: Inspired by Frederick Packard, FootJoy’s founder, you can expect exquisite detailing and pebble grain leather in multiple areas of the shoe.

Flint: Clean and refined and inspired by Perley Flint, a Harvard graduate who designed FootJoy’s first golf shoe in 1920, the Flint features premium lambskin linings and a new fit-bed focused on comfort.

Each of the new FootJoy premiere golf shoes feature impressive amounts of modern technology – led by the VersaTrax+ outsole and a new Ortholite EcoPlush FitBed which helps with stability.
The Flint is spikeless, where the Packard and Tarlow have spikes.
All of the FootJoy premiere golf shoes boast a 2-year waterproof warranty and a soft Pittards leather upper. The Packard and Tarlow’s dual durometer TPU gives golfers enhanced traction on all surfaces, while the Flint’s VersaTrax outsole relies on new tread patterns for a reduction in slippage and exceptional grip. The multiple TPU compounds found in the FootJoy shoes for 2021 helps with grip on any surface – harder TPU for on-course and softer TPU for harder surfaces.
FootJoy Premiere golf shoes were also worn by more golfers on the PGA Tour than any other in 2020.
“My big belief is that FootJoy should have the best golf shoe out there,” said Adam Scott, “and I believe they’ve achieved that with The Premiere Series.”
FOOTJOY HYPERFLEX GOLF SHOES
On the opposite end of the design spectrum is the FootJoy Hyperflex golf shoe, which has a modern design and boasts modern technology.

Built to move with golfers, the upper has enhanced structure and support thanks to engineered mesh with TPU yarns. The shoe is waterproof (1-year warranty) and thanks to a high-density FitBed and Stratofoam – a proprietary foam compound tuned specifically for golf – midsole, the Hyperflex gives golfers tons of support and comfort.
The Pulsar LP cleats by Softspikes offer exceptional grip from a FootJoy golf shoe, not to mention OptiFlex zones in the shoe that help with flex and range of motion – giving golfers maximum ground contact.
