  • Pro Tip: Check out the New Cobra LTDx Line

    Updated: Feb 11, 2022
Pro Tip: New Cobra LTDx Line

For 2022, new Cobra drivers and metalwoods are an evolution of the legacy of the LTD name that began in 2016. This year, the Cobra drivers and metalwoods are engineered for the longest total distance in golf.

    Cobra LTDx

LTD stands for Longest Total Distance, and over the last few years the longest of distances in professional golf have come via Cobra Golf staffer Bryson DeChambeau.

It’s unlikely any casual golf fan – or even sports fan, to be honest – hasn’t seen a DeChambeau drive. And he hits all those drives using Cobra drivers.

He’s already switched to the new 2022 Cobra driver, part of the LTDx family. It’s the driver DeChambeau used to break his own ball-speed record in late 2021. And now you can put the same kind of technology in your bag thanks to machine learning and CNC machining.

Cobra engineers replaced the E9 face with a new variable-thickness design called Highly Optimized Technology (H.O.T.) in each LTDx model. The multi-material construction in the driver uses up to 30 percent more carbon fiber than RADSPEED and lighter and stronger titanium to maximize stability. The machine learning has allowed Cobra to take data from thousands of impact simulations – which means the thickness of the face is optimized in 15 different zones.

Whether you’re looking for a new Cobra driver or new Cobra irons for 2022, here’s a breakdown of all the new stuff for the year ahead. And don’t forget, GlobalGolf.ca has plenty of used Cobra golf clubs as well.

    DRIVERS

    Cobra LTDx Driver

The new Cobra driver has three LTDx models that help all types of players optimize their performance off the tee. The LTDx LS is designed for skilled golfers who have a faster swing speed. It’s a low-spin model that allow those skilled golfers to work the ball more. Adjustable weights are in the toe and heel to help dial in trajectory, all in a very traditional shape. The LTDx MAX gives golfers the choice to move the adjustable weights, combining maximum draw bias and stability. At its most basic? The LTDx Max is a combination of the RADSPEED XB and the RADSPEED XD. Finally, the LTDx blends the LS and MAX into one driver. By achieving zero CGna (Centre of Gravity neutral) and 5,200 MOI, it’s the best combination of maximum forgiveness and low spin.

The LTDx MAX driver is also available in a women’s edition and junior model.

    FAIRWAY WOODS

The full lineup of LTDx fairway metals also boast the H.O.T. Face technology and PWR-COR – multi-material internal and external weights to move weight low and forward to help drive ball speed and reduce spin. Like the drivers, the LTDx fairway metals come in three options. The LTDx LS Fairway comes in ‘Big Tour’ shape in the 3-wood and ‘Tour’ shape in the 5-wood. They utilize aluminum and tungsten to position weight forward and low to help increase ball speed with two adjustable weights. The LTDx fairway has a 12-gram fixed weight and is traditionally shaped (the 3-wood has no rails while the 5-wood and 7-wood have hollow split rails to aid in turf interaction). The LTDx MAX is Cobra’s most forgiving fairway wood. It has additional draw bias, an adjustable weight system, and like the other models has the PWR-COR and H.O.T. Face technology.

The LTDx MAX also comes in a women’s flex shaft.

    HYBRIDS

    Cobra LTDx Hybrid

The LTDx hybrids (also available in One Length models) are Cobra’s first line that features PWRSHELL Technology. An L-cup forged design generates up to 17 percent more flex for a higher launch and faster ball steed. These hybrids also feature the H.O.T. Face technology and PWR-COR. Even with the new tech, Cobra’s signature hollow split rails have made its return to help with turf interaction.

The LTDx Hybrid comes in four models (and two One Length models) plus four different women’s models.

    IRONS

    Cobra LTDx Irons

The new Cobra irons for 2022 build on the LTDx line. The new KING LTDx irons are available in both One Length and Variable offerings. They’ve been re-engineered (also available in a women’s flex) to also use the PWR-COR weighting system and boast a larger and thinner PWRSHELL Face. Cobra’s new irons, thanks to the updated PWRSHELL design, expands the thin area on the face by 23 percent. That has increased the maximum ball speed zone to help give golfers more reliable distance, even on off-centre hits.
